NSS AND UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN, HITS – REPUBLIC DAY EVENT

The NSS Cell and the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Team of HITS celebrated the 74th Republic Day on 26 January 2023 at Government Girls High School, Kelambakkam. The team also attended the Gram Sabha at Padur and Kelambakkam villages and witnessed the discussions of the Panchayat Officials on Government Schemes and projects completed.
Mr. K. Gnanasekaran, Nodal Officer, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, HITS informed the public about the "Free Skill Training Centre" at HITS and the procedure to join the courses. He also spoke about the possibilities of joint projects for the development of the village.

The 74th Republic Day Celebrations was held on 26 January 2023 at the Bay Range Campus. The chief guest for the celebration was Group Captain KVM Sanjay, Chief Engineering Officer, Air Force Station, Tambaram who, in his Republic Day address, urged the student to join the armed forces and serve the nation. King Sejong Institute Chennai2 - HITS organised the Seollal(Korean Lunar New year) event on 24 January 2023. The event was marked by students playing the “YUTNORI” game as part of their Korean course and also wearing the “Hanbok” (the Korean traditional wear). Ms. Sukhee Lee, Head, King Sejong HITS and Assistant Professor of Korean language, explained the customs of the Korean New Year's Day. "YUVOTSAV 2023" – HINDUSTAN DANCE TEAM WINS THE CONTEST

The Yuva Kerala Arts and Sports Club, Chennai organised the "YUVOTSAV 2023" Season 8 on 22 January 2023 at Dr. Ambedkar Arangam, ICF. The Hindustan Dance team competed with 12 other dance teams and won First Prize in the Fusion Group Dance category for their power packed performance. Road Safety Awareness Campaign

The “Road Safety Awareness Campaign and Road Safety Mass Pledge” was jointly organised by the NSS and NCC Units on 19 January 2023 in the Bay Range Campus. The Campaign was conducted in view of the Road Safety Week, an initiative by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India with an objective to create awareness among students and staff to improve safety on road. More than 500 students took the pledge on Road Safety and 200 students participated in the Campaign.

NSS PONGAL CELEBRATION AT THE IRULAR COLONY, IDAYANKUPPAM VILLAGE

The volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) along with the Rotaract Club of Hindustan University and Y's Hindustan Youth Club organized the Pongal Feast at the Irular Colony, Idayankuppam Village, Chengalpattu District on 17 January 2023. The locals of the hamlet were served food on the occasion of Pongal Celebration. More than 150 villagers benefited through this initiative. They also participated in the competitions conducted by the volunteers and prizes and gifts were distributed to the villagers.

Pongal, the festival of harvest was celebrated on 14 January 2023. The Chief Guest for the celebration was Thiru. S. S Balaji, MLA of the Thiruporur Constituency and the Guest of Honour was Dr.Sharmila Balaji, General Physician, Actress and Social Activist.
