The Anti–Ragging Campaign ’25 was successfully conducted on 5th August 2025 at the MGR Auditorium, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, as an awareness and engagement initiative organized by Counselling and Mental Wellbeing Cell under the Student Affairs Department. The programme reaffirmed the university’s firm commitment to maintaining a ragging-free, safe, and inclusive campus environment, in line with UGC Anti-Ragging Guidelines.The event commenced at 2:00 PM with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr. S. Ramanathan, IPS (Retd.), Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), followed by the gathering of dignitaries on the dais. The programme formally began with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, honoring Tamil culture, and a solemn prayer, which set a respectful and reflective tone for the session.
The Welcome Address by the Registrar, Dr. S. Muthukumar Subramanian, emphasized the ethos of Hindustan University as a space of unity, diversity, and safety. He strongly urged students to refrain from any form of ragging and uphold values of mutual respect and integrity. This was followed by a Special Address by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Ganesan, who highlighted the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus and elaborated on the legal and ethical implications of ragging. He encouraged senior students to act as mentors and protectors of their juniors.
The Chief Guest was formally introduced, highlighting his distinguished service in the Tamil Nadu Police and his contributions to ethical policing and leadership. In his Chief Guest Address, Mr. S. Ramanathan, IPS (Retd.), delivered a powerful and inspiring speech, sharing real-life experiences from his career. He spoke about discipline, moral courage, and the need to stand firmly against bullying and ragging, motivating students to foster a culture of respect and responsibility.
A major highlight of the programme was the Student Pledge Against Ragging, where all students collectively pledged to uphold dignity, harmony, and zero tolerance towards ragging. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. K. S. Shaji, Dean of Student Affairs, acknowledging the support of the Chief Guest, university leadership, organizers, and students. The event ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem.Following the formal session, an Anti-Ragging Rally was conducted, with enthusiastic participation from students, further reinforcing the message of unity, safety, and inclusiveness across the campus.
Overall, the Anti–Ragging Campaign ’25 was impactful and well-coordinated. Through inspiring leadership, student participation, and a strong collective pledge, the programme successfully reinforced the university’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and its unwavering commitment to creating a respectful and secure learning environment for all.
