The PONNONAM ’25 Celebrations at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science was a grand showcase of tradition, culture, and festivity, bringing together students, faculty, and dignitaries under one vibrant platform. Organized on August 30th, 2025, the event highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Kerala through traditional performances, processions, and a festive feast, while also embracing the youthful spirit of creativity and unity within the campus community. The PONNONAM ’25 Celebrations was held on August 30th, 2025, at the MGR Auditorium. The event began at 11:00 am with the registration of participants at the Science Block. This was followed by a vibrant start with the Mega Thiruvathira performance by 20 members, which set a graceful and festive tone. Soon after, a colourful procession featuring Singarimelam, Kathakali, and various traditional art forms spread cheer across the campus, inviting everyone into the spirit of Onam. The audience then gathered at the MGR Auditorium, where the formal ceremony commenced with a prayer led by Rev. Justin Jose. The welcome address was delivered by Anna Vijai, Final Year B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering, followed by the lighting of
the lamp by the Chief Guest and dignitaries. A traditional Thiruvathira performance further enhanced the cultural essence of the event. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. S. Ganesan, Vice Chancellor, emphasizing the importance of preserving traditions and unity. A highlight of the program was the welcoming of Mahabali onto the stage along with Singarimelam, which symbolized the arrival of prosperity and happiness. The celebrations then moved into the cultural performances, featuring a mix of classical and modern art forms. The lineup included Kerala Nadanam, Mohiniyattam, Fusion Dances by various student teams, Solo Singing performances, and even a Ramp Walk that showcased traditional attire with creativity. Followed by the Prize distribution of Pookalam competiton. These performances reflected the immense talent and diversity of the student community. The formal session concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Eba Sara Baiju, Final Year
B.Tech Aerospace Engineering, expressing gratitude to the organizers, participants, and dignitaries. Following this, the traditional Onam Sadhya was served, bringing everyone together in the spirit of unity and festivity. The event drew to a lively close at 6:30 pm with a spectacular performance by Fejo & Team along with Adarsh DJ, which left the audience energized and joyful.
