The Thulassery Manapurathu Tharavad organized an event on 28 May 2022 at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, West Kallada marking the occasion of 1200th Anniversary of West Asian (Syrian) Migration to Kollam in 823 AD. In the light of this occasion, Late Founder of Hindustan Group of Institutions, Dr. KCG Verghese was posthumously awarded the Second Marwan Sabore Iso Award by His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews III the Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan and the Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The award was givenrecognizing LateDr. KCG Verghese’sservice to the society throughout his lifetime; and was received by his son Dr. Ashok G. Verghese, Director, Hindustan Group of Institutions.
The event was presided over by the honorary presence of His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, the Catholicos of the East&Malankara Metropolitan and the Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church; Rt. Rev Thomas Samuel, BishopEmeritus,Church of South India; and His Excellency Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom Bishop Emeritus, Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. Other distinguished dignitaries such as H.E. Adv.P.S. Sreedhan Pillai, Governor of Goa, K.N. Balagopal, Finance Minister of Kerala, SajiCheriyan, Minister of Fisheries, Kodikunnil Suresh M.P., Former Central Minister, T.P. Sreenivasan IFS, Former Ambassador, and GewargisAcis, Representative of World Council of Arameans-India, graced the occasion with their presence.
