Ms. Dharshini Thirunavukkarasu, B.Com student takes India to 2019 FIBA Under-19 and 2020 FIBA Under-18 Women's Asian Championship under Division A category. In a crucial match for qualifying, Dharshini showed surprising moves and extraordinary energy to clinch victory for India.
The 2018 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship for Women was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup. FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship for Women took place in Bangalore, India between 28th October and 3rd November 2018. Sixteen (16) participating teams were divided into Division A and Division B comprising eight (8) teams each. These eight (8) teams in turn were divided into A and B groups with four (4) teams each competing among themselves. Under Division B, Group A, India played against Iran, Singapore, and Guam and won all three matches with 73-65, 79-49, and 107-42 score lead. In the knockout round India beat Hong Kong by an 83-38 lead in Semifinals; and defeated Kazakhstan in the Finals with a leading 68-45 score on the board. With an overall 5-0 win-loss record, India, the Champion Team from Division B got a direct promotion to the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Asian Championship and 2020 FIBA Under-18 Women's Asian Championship under Division ‘A’ category.
