A-2 day Summer Workshop on “Analytical Techniques in Molecular Biology” was organized by the Dept. of Chemical Engineering on 18 and 19 June 2018. The workshop attended by 40 participants had guest lectures and hands-on session on various molecular biological techniques.
Dr. K. Subramaniam, Prof., IIT Madras addressed on ‘Germline Stem Cells: Control of Self-Renewal and Differentiation Decisions.’ Mr. D. Ashok Kumar, Asst. Prof., HITS hands-on session on ‘Molecular Biological Techniques’ demonstrated the isolation of DNA, RNA, protein and their quantification and separation using Agarose Gel Electrophoresis in the Loius Pasteur Biotechnology lab. Dr. S. Janarthanan, Prof. & HoD, Madras University delivered a technical lecture on “Protein Gel Electrophoresis and its Trouble Shooting”. Dr. D. Jini, Asst. Prof., HITS gave a hands-on training to the participants on Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate- Poly Acrylamide Gel Electrophoresis and its staining procedures.
