ARC’23 - a National-Level Automation and Robotics Competition was jointly organized by the Center for Automation and Robotics and the Department of Mechatronics Engineering on the 30 and 31 March 2023. Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor and Dr. Ashok G. Verghese, Pro-Chancellor graced the occasion. Mr. N. Krishna Kumar, Regional Manager (South) Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), India and Ms. Jaganavi Premkumar were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively. The competition primarily focused on generating excitement among young enthusiasts from school and colleges in the field of Engineering, Science, and Technology.
A total of 700 students from schools and colleges across India participated and showcased their talents in a variety of multidisciplinary events such as Innovatio, Bot–le–Zone, Robo- Sprint, and Line Follower. In this year’s competition, students were challenged to design and build a robot that can follow, fight and race with the competitor bots. Through this challenge, students were able to apply their academic knowledge in the field of robotics and automation to think creatively and develop practical solutions for real-time applications. Total prize money worth 1 lakh was distributed to the winners by the Honorable Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of HITS.
A special event under the name, Robotics Workshop - ‘I Can Build Robot’ was conducted for school children in collaboration with HITS-associated industry partner to encourage innovation in design among young makers that provided them a platform to showcase their talent.
