The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organised Eluminate’21, an intradepartmental student Symposium on 30 October 2021. Mr. Raja Chidambaram, Senior Technical Architect, HCL-CISCO, Chennai presided over as the chief guest. The event was a great success in providing a copious opportunity for the students to showcase their technical and nontechnical skills, and also served as a platform to develop interpersonal and leadership skills.
Dr. Thangakumar J, HoD, CSE welcomed the gathering; and the presidential address was given by Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean (E&T). Mr. Raja Chidambaram, appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and staff members for making this event happen in spite of the pandemic condition. Five technical and non-technical events were organized in Eluminate’21 and the highlight of it being conducted solely by the student volunteers. The participants were evaluated by a panel of expert members and top three winners were awarded prizes and mementoes. With Covid protocols in place, a total of 113 students were present for the event. The list of events conducted were project conversazione, panel discussion, design thinking, capture the flag, code debugging, Mr. and Ms. Solutions, Connextions, Minute to win it, Treasure hunt, T- Shirt, Volerant and Game designing.
Project Conversazione, being the flagship event of symposium, acknowledged the Winners (Ms. B. Sandhya and Ms. N.V.L Jhansi) with a Tablet and trophies; and the Runners-up (B.E.S.M. Viswanadh and Ritesh kumar Yadav) with Mobile phone, External hard disk, and trophies. The students projected their innovative ideas as a poster and was evaluated by a panel of expert members. A total of 41 teams participated in the project conversazione and the technological projects mostly with high relevance to social and environmental factors were presented by the teams.
The symposium concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony with the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. N. Sridhara. During the presidential address, he insisted the importance of extracurricular activities and teamwork among the students. He later honoured the students with awards and prizes. Mr. John Deva Prasanna, Mr. Balasubramani, Mr. Praveen kumar, Dr Magdalene and Dr. Sribharathi, Assistant Professors, CSE coordinated the event.
