The IBM-ICE Day’22 was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with IBM on 26 and 27 October 2022. The inauguration of the event was held on 26 October 2022. The chief guest was Mr. Viqaruddin Surki, IBM Delivery Head and Account Management. In his key note speech, Mr. Surki highlighted the recent innovations in IT world such as the importance of technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics and Internet of Things in the present-day context. Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor, HITS, in his presidential address focussed on the challenges and opportunities in the field of computing science.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. J. Thanga Kumar, Head, Department of Computer Science. He highlighted the importance of collaborating the academic courses of HITS with industry partner IBM. The chief guest and all the jury members from IBM were felicitated with bouquet by our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S.N Sridhara. Following that, the IBM-ICE DAY’22 address was delivered by Dr. M. Kathiravan. He spoke on the IBM-ICE programme offered at HITS and the importance of various events conducted on IBM-ICE DAY’22. A Special Address given by Dean E&T, shared her past experience as IBM coordinator in HITS campus. The inauguration ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Vishnu Sekar, Department of CSE.
The two-day event hosted competitions such as poster presentation, paper presentation, hackathon and projects competition. The projects were related to latest disruptive technologies like Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Cyber security in IBM AIML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and CSF (Cyber Security & Forensics) courses. These competitions were judged by the jury members from IBM.
The valedictory function for IBM-ICE DAY’22 was held on 27 October 2022 with welcome address by Dr. J. Thanga Kumar, Head, Department of CSE. The medals and certificates for all the winners were presented by Mr. Hari Subramanian, Business Head, IBM. The prize money for Hackathon event was announced by Mr. Viqaruddin Surki, the winner of the event received Rs. 10000 cash award, first and second runner up received Rs. 5000. Then, our chief guest spoken about the importance and global recognition of IBM badge for IBM specialization course. Finally, the valedictory ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr.M. Kathiravan, IBM Co-ordinator.
