The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI) Kancheepuram Chapter organized an Expert Lecture on “Trends in Cyber Security and Threats.” The lecture was delivered by Mr. Gokulavan Jayaraman, Information Security Head, Lumina Datamatics Limited, Chennai. A total of 100 students comprising of B. Tech (CSE -Cyber Security) and B. Tech (AI & DS) and 10 faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering attended the lecture.
The resource person Mr. Gokulavan Jayaraman emphasized the critical importance of cybersecurity in today's digital age. He also highlighted the growing reliance on technology and the increasing complexity of cyber threats. The students underscored the need for a proactive approach to cybersecurity, including preventive, detective, and responsive measures. Key components discussed were the best practices in cyber security, compliance with regulations, and emerging technologies. The speaker also stressed the significance of staying informed and implementing robust security measures to safeguard against cyber threats. Overall, the message was a call to action for individuals and organizations to prioritize cybersecurity and take proactive steps to protect their digital assets and information.
The welcome address was delivered by the Dr. J.Thangakumar, Head, CSE. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. R. Kanthavel, Dean (CS), Dr. P. Ranjana, Professor, CSE presented a brief introduction of the resource person. The expert lecture concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sanju Rajan, Assistant Professor, CSE.
