Officials from Taiwan Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC), India, Mr. Peter Chen, Director, TECC; Dr. Chin Tsan Wan, Director, Science Division and Ms. Ellie Chiang, Secretary to Director, Science Division, visited HITS on 17 Nov. 2021 to exchange MoU intending to offer Mandarin Language to students of HITS. Team HITS comprised Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor; Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Alexander Jesudasan; Dr. Ilavazhagan, Director International Affairs; Dr. David Easow, Deputy Director International Affairs and Head Liberal Arts; Ms. Sukhee Lee, Advisor International Affairs; Dean ET, Dr. Angelina Geetha; and Dr. A. Sherine Joy, Head Languages and Rankings.
Following formal introduction, Dr. Ilavazhagan, Director International Affairs briefed about Hindustan Group of Institutions and highlighted the achievements of HITS and probable collaborations with Taiwan. Dr. Peter Chen gave a presentation on the achievements of Taiwan Universities, and briefed on the possible collaborations with Taiwan institutions in various aspects with special emphasis on Mandarin Language teaching. He emphasised on the fact that there is lot of scope of excelling in Mandarin language and its future prospects for students who aspire to learn Mandarin.
Elaborate discussion on the probable collaboration with future projects related to semi conductors by Dr. Chin Tsan Wan, Director of Science Division. This was followed by exchange of MOU ceremony for collaboration with HITS for offering Mandarin Language for HITS students. MOU, duly signed by Pro Chancellor and TECC, was exchanged by Vice Chancellor, HITS and Director, TECC.
