The Department of Psychology, School of Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences conducted an Expert talk on ‘Importance of Mental Health among Students’ in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs on the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2023. The event was held on 10 October 2023 and the chief guest for the event was Ms. Shahnaz Azeez, Counselling Psychologist, Coach - Life and Behavioural skills. The resource person delivered an inspiring speech in the presence of Dr Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellor, students and faculties from various disciplines of SLAAS.
Ms. Shahnaz Azeez delved on the Importance of Mental Health among Students where she spoke about the stressors that are caused by the pressure and the dynamic lifestyle, the importance of taking care of our mind to exert its full potential and the hike of mental health awareness in college students in the past 10 years. She also discussed the key points to improve mental health by choosing the circle of friends wisely, keeping an open mind and exploring oneself, time management and power of choices was delivered through an interactive session.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr.Marcelin Pushpa, Head. SLAAS who emphasized the importance of mental health. The Presidential address was given by Dr.R.W.Alexander Jesudasan who gave an overview on Our Minds; Our Rights. The Chief Guest introduction was presented by Ms.Reshma Malick, Head, Department of Psychology. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr.K.S.Shaji, Dean, Student Affairs. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
