Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science in collaboration with KEB Hana Bank organized the Global Scholarship Awards Ceremony on 20 December 2021. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Young Seup Kwon, Consul General, Consulate of Republic of Korea, Chennai. The other guests were Mr. Dae Ki Hong, Chief Executive Officer of KEB Hana Bank, Mr. Jaeyeol Lee, Chief Operating Officer and Mr. Ramasubramanian D, Chief Manager, KEB Hana Bank. The officials of HITS welcomed the guests with bouquets.
Mr. Young Seup Kwon, Consul General, Consulate of Republic of Korea, Chennai delivered the Chief Guest address. He said that Korea aims to improve its bilateral relationship with India. He expressed that Korea has made a progress from last year’s 20 million in trade to 30 million. He also stated that the surge in Korean culture is because of the popularity of KPop, KDramas, KBeauty and KFood. Mr. Seup concluded his speech saying that he hopes to build more cultural ties with India in the future. He presented the scholarship to 20 students of HITS and KCG College of Technology. Each student received an amount of $500.
Mr. Daeki Hong Managing Director, KEB Hana Bank, India spoke about the Hana Bank Global Scholarship. He stated that Hana Bank aims to become a large provider of revenue in India, and has established two branches in Chennai and Gurugram. Mr. Daeki Hong concluded that scholarship will be used fruitfully for the betterment of the student community.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor. He informed that the scholarship is God’s gift. He added that money is earned through hard work and that students must continue the cycle of giving. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. R. W. Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellor and congratulated the scholarship recipients. He also advised the students to be thankful for the opportunity to receive the scholarship. The event started with prayer by Rev. Justin Jose, Student Chaplain, HGI followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu and the Korean national anthem. The grand celebration came to an end with the vote of thanks by Ms. Shirley Armstrong, President, Student Council and national anthem.
