Chairperson’S Day Thanksgiving Celebrations

The Chancellor's Day was celebrated on 10 October 2022 to commemorate the birthday of Madam Chairperson Dr. (Mrs). Elizabeth Verghese. The celebration started with the opening prayer by Rev. Justin Jose, Student Chaplain, HGI followed by an Opening Hymn by the HITS Choir.

Dr. S.N Sridhara, Vice Chancellor, HITS delivered the welcome address and wished Madam Chairperson a warm and prosperous birthday. Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean E&T, Dr. Geetha Devi C E, Associate Professor, Department of EEE and Ms.Beena James, Head Student Affairs I/c welcomed Chairperson with a floral bouquet. The Heads of Hindustan Group of Institutions felicitated and festooned Madam Chairperson with agarland. Padmashree Dr. A Sivathanu Pillai, Founder-Brahmos Aerospace and Professor Emeritus Research HITS, shared his great fullness in associating with her and also being a part of the Hindustan family. Dr.B.N Kamal, President, HITSAA also felicitated Madam Chairperson during the function. He thanked Chairperson for being a source of inspiration and for warmly welcoming the whole alumni community warm heartedly. Then Madam Chairperson along with the dignitaries participated in the cake cutting ceremony.

Dr. Anand Jacob Varghese, CEO HGI, delivered the felicitation address and he summarized the career timeline of the Chairperson, her notable achievements and accolades. In his speech he mentioned the importance of providing students with real time education and also the need of digital transformation. He urged everyone to be a part of the digital transformation of the Institution. Finally on behalf of all the family members he wished Chairperson a very happy birthday.

Dr.P. DeivaSundari, Principal, KCG College of Technology presented a video of birthday wishes and the month-long events proposed and conducted by each institution on the occasion of Chairperson’s Birthday Celebration. It was also announced that the celebration will last for a year.

Dr.K Sarukesi, Former Vice Chancellor HITS, wished Madam Chancellor blessings on her birthday and said that he would pray to God for her healthy life. Mr.Chinnakutty, ex-panchayat President- Padur, recollected the developments and support given to the residents of Padur village by Hindustan Group and thanked Madam Chairperson for her contributions in this regard. He felicitated the Chairperson with a garland.

Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson HGI, delivered here address by thanking all the delegates and faculty members of Hindustan Group of Institutions for their great support. She recollected the old memories during her career and she mentioned about her husband and Founder Chairman, Dr.K.C.G Verghese, who endeavoured in building the Hindustan Group of Institutions and the hardship that she faced after his demise. She also explained about the Founder Chairman’s envisioned to start an engineering college at Padur and how it grew from Hindustan College of Engineering to Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. She also described his vision towards the aviation industry.

Dr.Samuel Sampathkumar, Vice Principal HCAS proposed the vote of thanks and the event concluded with a series of cultural events by HITS Music Band and a High Tea.
