A Panel Discussion was organised by the Department of Physical Education on 5 October 2024 at the Bay Range Campus. The discussion focussed on the theme the Olympics “Road to Brisbane, Australia 2032” and ways to elevate India’s performance in upcoming Olympics. The Moderator for the discussion was Dr. Sumanth C. The Panellists discussed the need for improved sports infrastructure, early talent identification, and the psychological and physical preparation of athletes. The session highlighted the importance of grassroots initiatives and collaborative efforts to ensure India’s continued success in future Olympics. The session emphasized the need for collaboration and support at every level to elevate India's performance in the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympics. The panel members shared valuable perspectives on how to improve sports infrastructure, promote early talent identification, and provide athletes with the necessary resources to thrive globally.
Earlier the event commenced with a grand welcome for the Olympian Padma Shree P. R. Sreejesh. The students and staff waved the National and Olympic flags in his honour. The felicitation ceremony was marked by the presence of prominent personalities such as Hon’ble Dr. Ashok George Verghese, Pro Chancellor, HITS; Mr. Jayasankar Menon, former Asian All-Star Basketball Player; Mr. Abraham Varghese, Sports Advisor; and Dr. J. David Mathew, Dean of Sports, HITS.
