The Department of Physiotherapy, SAHS conducted a Camp for Children with Physical and Mental Disabilities on 7 September 2023 at Annor Village, Chengalpattu in association with Cheshire Home India. The following members were present for the Camp:

2. Dr. S. Jenifer Augustina, Department of Physiotherapy
3. Mr. Muthiah, Co-ordinator, Cheshire Home India Organization
4. Mrs. Maureen Hudson Murari, Secretary, Cheshire Home India Organization
5. Mr. Ramu, President of Anoor village
6. Students of the Department of Physiotherapy
7. Parents and children in that locality
The camp was coordinated by Mr.P.Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor (SG), Dr.S. Jenifer Augustina, Assistant Professor(SG),and accompanied by the students of B.P.T. second and third year .Dr.S.Jenifer Augustina delivered a talk on perinatal reasons, consanguineous marriage, stress in family, and how to handle those. Mr. P. Karthikeyan delivered an awareness speech about disabilities, do’s and don’ts for the parents in handling the children. Later, a screening was done for 15 disabled children and 10 geriatric cases who underwent Physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis. Home-based exercises were demonstrated and taught to the parents / caregivers.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE:
- Inauguration by Cheshire home India Organization
- Welcome address by Mr. Muthiah, Co-ordinator, Cheshire home India Organization
- Special speech by Mrs. Maureen Hudson Murari, Secretary, Cheshire home India Organization
- Awareness talk on prenatal concerns by Dr.S.Jenifer Augustina, Assistant Professor, HITS.
- Awareness talk on disabilities and dos and dont’s for the parents by Mr.P.Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor, HITS.
- Mrs. Maureen Hudson Murari, secretary, Cheshire home India Organization felicitated Dr.S.Jenifer Augustina and Mr.P.Karthikeyan.
- Dr.S.Jenifer Augustina and Mr.P.Karthikeyan performed pediatric physiotherapy assessment, and plan for physiotherapy management for 15 disabled children.
- Followed by open discussion with parents on activities of daily living training, nutrition enhancement and wellness for children.
