Summer Camp on Coding at Hindustan International School – Guindy and Padur
The Department of Computer Science Engineering conducted a Summer Camp on Coding at Hindustan International School - Guindy and Padur, between 5 April 2023 and 31 May 2023. Students from grades I to VIII participated in the camp. Dr. A. Logeshwari, Dr. B. Mathiarasi, Mr. C. Gowdham and Ms. Dheepthi R. from the Department conducted the classes and which provided the students an opportunity to learn new skills.
The Camp aimed at keeping the students engaged and provided them basic coding knowledge to explore and express their logical thinking. They not only made memories while having fun but they were also able to face their fears, try new things, pushed their boundaries, and realized self-sufficiency.
The coding camp provided hands-on experiences in the following areas:
- The need for a programming knowledge
- Comparing Artificial Intelligence and Real Intelligence
- Using Google Colab
- Drawing of basic shapes like square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, spiral polygon, inward square with rainbow colors etc., using Turtle python package.
- Arithmetic operator programs using Python
- Solving blockly mazes to understand condition and looping constructs.
The exuberant learners zealously participated and showcased their diligence towards each coding activity. The essence of this camp was to develop a logical thinking in each student and ultimately the motto was achieved.
