- Hindustan University Youth Toastmasters Club (HYTC) Chartering Ceremony by Hindustan Toastmasters Club and Motivational Talk on “How to be a Successful Public Speaker” by Dr. R. W. Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellorwas organizedon 26 Feb. 2021. TM. Sherine Joy, Head Languages and Rankings, introduced the Club and appreciated the Management for providing a great opportunity to staff and students of HITS for introducing Toastmasters Club. She also briefedhow Dr. Ashok G. Verghese, Director, Hindustan University had a great role in introducing Toastmasters and encouraging staff and students to excel in public speaking.Dr.TMSherine Joy introduced R. W. Alexander Jesudasan and highlighted his oratorical and writing skills.
- The motivational talk comprised the following areas: the speaker narrated his success story and his inspiration that lead him to be a good speaker, he explained the goals of public speaking, its nuances, traits of a good and bad speaker. During his speech he emphasized on the importance of listening to professional speakers and he made it a regularpractice in the initial phases of his journey to groom himself as an orator. He also assumed the responsibilities as a leader, donning the role of warden, head, principal, secretary, Head of national and international bodies and explored the journey as a public speaker.
- The genesis of his journey as a speaker was narrated explicitly, and he made it a point excelling in all the speech assignments. He clearly illustrated that the goals of speaking are to get into your subject, get your subject into yourself, get your subject into the heart of the audience. He also advised the audience the presentation should be clear with right pronunciation. The traits of a good speakerrevolve around the passion, confidence, ability to connect with audience, the content should be to the point and also make a punch and be attractive. Prepared speeches should be delivered with passion. Don’ts and Do’s of presentation was well explained. He ended his speech with a fabulous piece of advice that the presentation should be impactful and should linger in the minds of the listeners. These were the takeaways of the astounding session of Pro Vice Chancellor.
- Dr. Ashok G. Verghese on launching the Hindustan University Youth Toastmasters Club reminisced the vision of the late Founder Chairman, Dr. K.C.G. Verghese to prepare the students as successful speakers and leaders and felt glad that through this platform the vision would be accomplished. He also informed that he was glad to be associated with the chartering of Hindustan University Toastmasters Club and appreciated the Hindustan Toastmasters Club staff members TM Muthukumaran and TM Sherine Joy for grooming the students and enrolling them in the Toastmasters Club. TM Muthukumaran shared the list of Office Bearers of the HYTC and the Director informed them to introduce themselves. 26 members were chartered in the new club as HYTC Club with Membership ID-7240315.

The session was followed by prepared speeches given the first year Aerospace studentsby TM. Aparajeetha titled “Self-Love and Self-Motivation”, and TM Niteesh titled“Life After 15”. TM Godwin John was the General Evaluator, Timer- Shehan, Grammarian – Hannah, 1st year Aerospace, Ah-counter – Yashwant.TMGodwin John proposed the Vote of Thanks and profusely thanked the Director for formally chartering the club and addressing the students. He also thanked the Motivational Speaker of the Day, Dr. R. W. Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellor for his inspirational speech. A special word of appreciation was accorded to all the participants and youth toastmasters.
