The Office of Students in association with the departments of EEE (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) and Mathematics organised a webinar on “Applications of Ionizing Radiations” by Dr. M. Manohari, Scientific Officer, Health & Industrial Safety Division of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam on 28 October 2021. The event began with Tamil Thai Vazhalthu and University Anthem. Dr. A. Prabaharan, Head - Student Affairs welcomed the gathering. Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean E & T, HITS & Dr. Padma S Kumar, Secretary of Indian Women Scientists Association felicitated the organisers. Dr. A. K. Parvathy, Head, Department of EEE introduced the speaker.
Dr. M. Manohari addressed about the benefits of ionizing radiation. She dwelt deep about the usages of ionizing radiations in increasing the productivity of vegetables and fruits. Dr. M. Manohari remarked that due to ionizing radiation we are in a position to cultivate bumper crops which is also useful for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
