The academic affiliate engagement with IET had three major agenda points.

The interaction was chaired by the Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor. The IET Coordinator of HITS, Dr. P Vasanthakumar, Head Aerospace Engineering, in his opening remarks outlined the process of accreditation by IET and the benefits of IET membership for the faculty. Dr. Daniel Canty, Head, Accreditation and Awards, IET UK briefed on the AHEP standard and the opportunities that are opened to the IET affiliate members and the benefits for graduating students of the accredited institutions.
Mr. Amitabh Sinha said that IET in India currently engages in three major domains viz., mobility, design, and futuristic technologies. He further expanded on the various opportunities under mobility focusing on electric vehicles and the possibility of organizing a faculty and student interaction with industry experts in EV mobility. Ms. Neha Singh focused on the benefits of being an academic affiliate of IET and explained the engagement process in terms of three major objectives namely, knowledge objectives, developmental objectives, brand objectives. She further highlighted on the benefits of faculty membership for networking potentials with professional experts.
Signing of the academic affiliate agreement
Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor pointed out to the long association with IET and expressed his happiness in furthering the engagement. The academic affiliate agreement was signed between the IET India and HITS; Ms. Neha Singh, Sr. Manager, Customer Engagement, signed on behalf of IET India and Dr. Muthukumar Subramanian, Registrar, signed on behalf of HITS in presence of Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor who received the certificate from Dr. Daniel Canty, Head Accreditation and Awards, IET UK. This was followed by an interaction on various initiatives and possibilities on IET’s support in terms of creating a platform for networking with experts, facilitating collaboration and participation of HITS in various domains.
Discussion on the implementation plan of the engagement with the IET champions.
Ms. Neha Singh and Ms. Latha Rao from IET India discussed the implementation plan with Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean E&T, and the IET champions from HITS Dr. P. Vasantha kumar and Dr. T. Sudalai Muthu. Dr. Angelina Geetha stressed on the mutual benefit from the engagement and suggested that IET, as a professional body, should bring forth plans that would benefit the affiliate institutions. Dr. Sudalai Muthu commented that the IET initiatives on professional development of the faculty could be more elaborative in terms of events through the local networks with affiliate institutions. Dr. Vasanthakumar mentioned that the IET India could contribute in terms of networking and collaboration of experts with affiliates to benefit faculty in research and developing expertise in emerging areas.
