On 7 May 2023, students of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) participated in a marathon organized by Decathlon in association with Greater Chennai Police/Traffic Police at Olcott Memorial School. The theme of the marathon was "Say No to Drugs," which aimed to raise awareness on the ill effects of drug abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
More than 150 students from HITS actively participated in the marathon, with many opting for the 10K run and others choosing the 5K run. The participants showed great enthusiasm and determination as they ran through the designated route, with many cheering each other on and motivating each other to reach the finish line.
The marathon was organized to encourage the youth to lead a healthy lifestyle and avoid the pitfalls of substance abuse. It aimed to promote fitness, sportsmanship, and community spirit among the participants, and it succeeded in doing so. At the end of the marathon, all participants received medals for their efforts and commitment to the cause.
