The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of HITS and School of Planning, Architecture & Design and Excellence, in collaboration with Nippon paints and iVolunteer (NGO), organized "Project Rainbow 1.0" on May 5, 2023. The initiative was held at Gurugulam Trust School, Kovalam, Chennai and aimed at transforming the dull and lifeless walls of the school into vibrant and colorful art pieces, which would not only brighten up the school's surroundings but also inspire the young minds studying there.
The event was led by a group of 30 first-year Architecture students who actively participated in painting the walls of the school. Each student was assigned a different theme for their section of the wall, which they brought to life with their creativity and artistic skills. The themes varied from environmental conservation to social issues, culture, and heritage, and were designed to create awareness among the students about these important topics.
The students used various techniques such as cartoon painting, graffiti art, and mixed media to create their art pieces on the walls. They also interacted with the children of the Gurugulam Trust School, involving them in the painting process and inspiring them to unleash their own creativity. The event was a true representation of the power of art and community collaboration in bringing about positive change.
The event was made possible through the generous support of Nippon paints and iVolunteer (NGO), who provided the necessary materials and resources for the painting project. The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of HITS and the School of Planning, Architecture & Design and Excellence (SPADE) also played a vital role in organizing and coordinating the event.
Overall, Project Rainbow 1.0 was a resounding success, and it left a lasting impact on the students, staff, and community members of Gurugulam Trust School. It not only brought color and vibrancy to the school's walls but also helped in raising awareness about important issues that affect our society. The event serves as a testament to the power of art and community collaboration in creating a better world.
