The freshmen induction of the School of Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences was held on 30 August 2023 at the Bay Range Campus. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Prateep V Philip, Former DGP Training. The program aimed to educate and encourage the first year students on their journey of college education.
In the chief guest address, Dr. Prateep V Philip, reflecting on his connection with Dr. K. C. G. Verghese, highlighted the profound principle of "Making Every Man A Success and No Man A Failure." He stressed the importance of instilling the seeds of knowledge in students, recognizing that they are not just the future of India, but the present as well. Dr.Prateep presented a different dimension to Einstein's formula of E=mc² which is a mantra for excellence, motivation, and choices made both in life and career. He urged students to have a clear goal and focus on achieving it. Emphasizing that education is about transformation, the Officer encouraged the students to grow holistically, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. He informed them to be well-versed in current affairs and possess self-awareness by understanding their strengths and weaknesses. His speech concluded by emphasizing the importance of planning for the future, knowing that every word spoken and every path taken from this day forward will be fuelled by their new found motivation.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. R.W. Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellor who encouraged the students to consider phase of college education as the start of a new chapter in their lives. He highlighted the transformative impact of technology on education today and advised students to leverage these tools to sharpen their skills. He said that their story should evolve into an impactful history.
The program commenced with a solemn prayer offered by Rev Justin Jose, Student Chaplin. Dr. Marcelin Pushpa, Head, SLAAS presented a brief introduction of the Chief Guest. The event concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Hariharasudhan, Assistant Professor.
