The Department of Computer Science Engineering organized a presentation on "ICT Trends and Opportunities for Engineering Graduates and Role of Professional Societies in Career Progression" on 2 February 2023. The objective of the lecture was to create awareness on technical associations and societies (mainly IEEE & it's 39 sister societies) that provide excellent benefits for students, faculty and professionals in their career planning and progression.
The resource person for the event was Mr. H. R. Mohan, Chair-Events & Imm Past Chair of IEEE Computer Society, Madras. His presentation focussed on the ICT Trends and Opportunities & Role of Professional Societies in Career Progression. He elaborated on the need for continuous learning, IEEE & Benefits; IEEE Computer Society & its Benefits; Related Societies such as Communication; Computational Intelligence; Information Theory; Professional Communication; Robotics & Automation; Systems, Man, and Cybernetics; Technology and Engineering Management; and Women in Engineering; Membership and how to become a registered member in the professional societies.The presentation was followed by Quiz conducted by the resource person and the winners were awarded cash prizes.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. J. Thangakumar, Head-CSE, followed by special address and felicitation by Dr. Angelina Geetha (Dean-E&T). The chief guest was introduced by Dr. Selvi Rajendran, Professor, CSE. And the event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr A. Sai Sabitha, Professor, CSE. The lecture was attended by a total 200 students of CSE.
