The students of Hindustan Institute of technology and Science visited Deakin University, Australia under the Blue Marble Study Tour hosted by the University between 30 October and 7 November 2022. Mr. R. Jagadeesh, Ms. Siri Reddy, III-year B.Tech., students of Mechanical Engineering and Mr. Abishek Reddy S, III-year B.Tech. CSE (Data Science) participated in this study tour.
The tour started on 31 October 2022 with a briefing of the program. Students were also introduced to the other 30 members of the program After lunch they visited the cultural centre where they were informed about the indigenous history and culture of Australia.
The first academic deliberations began on 1 November 2022with an introduction to sustainable solutions. Then later the participants worked on their respective projects titled "Improvement of transport linkage" and "Urban planning and development. "They also had a guest lecture on Sustainable Infrastructure for Upcoming Projects by Dr. Trevor. During dinner students participated in a presentation by the School of Architecture and Built Environment and the School of Life and Environmental Sciences.
On 2 November 2202 they visited the labs and workshops of the School of Engineering at the Waurnponds Campus. Later students continued to work on their projects. Also, on the same day they were briefed about the School of Engineering and School of Information Technology.
On 3 November 2022, the students presented their projects to the academic and industrial experts. On 4 November 2022the visiting student members witnessed the breath-taking views of the Great Ocean Road as part of the tour.
The participants visited Melbourne CBD (Central Business District)on 5 November 2022where they explored the city and also went to the Melbourne Skydeck to get a panoramic view of the Melbourne city. They returned to Geelong for a lavish dinner at the Sailor’s rest. On 6 November 2022 they visited the Werribee Open Range Zoo, and had a farewell BBQ dinner before the certificates were distributed. The tour ended on 7 November 2022.
