Imagination, ideals and energy of young people are vital for the continuing development of the societies in which they live. Provided with the knowledge and opportunities, youth can be a driving force for a nation’s development. Keeping this in view, HITS has taken an initiative—“Youth Talks”, an encouraging platform for youngsters to address on pressing and trending topics.
Under “Youth Talks”, the Member of Parliament and Poet, Ms. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi engrossed a-500 strong audience for over two hours on several pressing socio-political issues at Andromeda Lecture Theatre on 25 April 2022. Ms. Kanimozhi opined that the youth are nerve centre of the society; and unless and until they come forward and take charge, nothing will move ahead. She patiently listened and firmly answered to more than two dozen of questions some of which include: 1. Why Tamil Nadu alone opposes NEET when all other states including progressive Kerala supports? 2. Why Tamil Nadu gives free sops? 3. Will DMK align with BJP in 2024? 4. How are you going to fight the attack on federal rights? 5. Why youth is given a very low representation in politics & parliament? etc.
Earlier that day, the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. R.W. Alexander Jesudasan welcomed the gathering, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. N. Sridhara, and the Director of Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Dr. Susan Marthandan felicitated.
