CSI Convention - Held at: Kolkata
Computer Society of India, Kolkata chapter organized a 52nd Annual CSI Convention on 19.1.2018 to 21.1.2018 at Science City, Kolkata. The convention includes a variety of events like paper presentation, panel discussion, questioner session, project discussion and cultural.
Day 1
They start with registration, keynote address by Prof. Mike Hinchey, President, International Federation for Information Processing. He discussed about Augusta Ada King (first Programmer), Lero research, Nano technology, swarm ants concept mission. Next, the technical talk is given by Dr. Pavithra Prabakar, Kanas State University, Manhattan, USA. She discussed about Formal Verification of Robustness Properties of Hybrid System. She shared about Hybrid Automation, Stability in a pendulum, Linear dynamical system, Linear Hybrid System (stable, unstable) and Cyber Physical System. ?
Next, Inaugural Session was started with CSI President Mr. Sanjay Mohapatra, Vice President Mr. Gautam Mohapatra, Secretary Prof. A.K.Nayak, past President Dr. Anirban Basu, Phalguni Muukharjee, Organzing Chair and Swami Shastrajandanda, Principal, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir, Belur Math. Chair Person has given a talk about CSI and about the Convention CSI 2017.
Panel members of CSI have talked about the theme of the convention and given many lifetime achievement awards. Many senior members have got lifetime achievement awards. Next session started after lunch break. Then Next Session, Technical talk by Mr. Hasit Kaji, Head-Digital impact Square, Vice-President, TCS. He has given a lecture about innovation for Socital Impact. He discussed about two dimensions, key enablers, Humilize technology, Innovation model and process and multidisciplinary teams. Next Technical talks by Dr. Suvira Srivatsav, Associate Editorial Director, Computer Science and Publishing Development. He discussed about Trends in Scholarly Publishing, Springer Nature, Types of reviews, Reputed publisher, Editorial board, Turnaround Time, Think check submit (www.thinkchecksubmit.org), about share it, springer plus, and Data Publishing.
Day 2
Title: Driver/Driving Context and Safety are given by Dr. Venkata Padmanaban, Microsoft Research India. He talked about Road traffic injuries, Key Risk factors, HAMS Architecture, Research and Beyond HAMS, Driver Gaze Tracking, Challenges in Gaze tracking, facial landmarks, unsupervised learning, Vecihle Ranging, Challenges in vechicles ranging, Hybrid approach detection + tracking, Ranging workflow, Advanced Driver system, automated monitoring, IOT for Agriculture and challenges of Advanced Driver System.
Cyber Physical Systems: Mr. Balamuralidhar, Principal Scientist and Head, TCS Research Lab, Bangalore. He discussed about IOT, CPS, Enterprise wide building energy management, Health Care, Arial Inspection of power lines, Forest Audit, Aerial Inspection of Rail Track, Multimodel sensing Integration (UAV, Satelite), Living sensors at your fingertips, wearable devices, mid infrared laser systems, Distributed Architecture: Agent based, Holon based, Man-Machine system, Micro Robot, and types of Robots. Healthcare and Cardiocare using IOT: Dr. Arpan Pal, Head Innovation Lab, Kolkata. He discussed about Future Analytics, medical systems, early screening for health diseases, PIR sensors, Single Lisp stance (SLS), Double Lisp Subpport (DLS), Challenges in healthcare with IOT, game changes in healthcare, and how important it?.IOT and Cardiac therapy: The talk given by Dr. Dilip Kumar, Medica Super Specialty Hospital, Kolkata. He discussed about screening for heart diseases. Finally a second day program ends up with cultural programs.
Day 3
Morning AGM meeting. Finally the program ends up with CSI Annual Awards and Feedback session. Our Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science got “Best Accredited Student Branch Award”. Director(AV), D. Chitradevi, AP(S.G.), Student Branch Coordinator, Dr. S. Sathyalakshmi Professor, received the award.
