A team of final-year B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) students from Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) has bagged the first prize and a cash award of ₹5 lakh at the Infosys Global Hackathon – Tech for Good 2025, held at Infosys, Hyderabad, on August 4 and 5.
The team, after clearing multiple regional rounds and undergoing a rigorous mentoring process, competed in the grand finale against 33 finalist teams from across India. They emerged winners in Challenge 7 with their innovation, Agriguru, an AI-powered farming companion app designed to support farmers with advanced digital tools.
The app, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger, offers smart crop recommendations, plant disease diagnosis through AI, satellite-based agricultural insights, and voice-enabled access in regional languages. It has been developed to benefit both rural and urban farmers by improving productivity, reducing wastage, and encouraging sustainable farming practices.
The winning team members include Mr. Jyoti Prakash Behera, Mr. Madhan S, Mr. Manish M, Ms. Samyuktha S, and Ms. Deepika Samad.
