'Science for People and People for Science' formed the theme of National Science Day celebrated on 28 February 2019 commemorating the invention of Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman, the renowned Indian physicist and Nobel laureate. Padmasri. Dr. Mayilswamy Annadurai, Distinguished Scientist, ISRO and Director, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, was the chief guest of the occasion. It was befitting to the theme of Science Day, for having the award ceremony of Hindustan Innovation Challenge 2018-19. While appreciating the teams who participated, Dr. K. P. Isaac, Vice Chancellor, HITS appealed to every student to be innovators. Dr. Mayilswamy Annadurai emphasized the importance of perseverance and focus in the path of innovation. He said, “Great innovators of the world lived in the same world of a common man; what made them great was the power of observation!” interacting with students, Dr. Annadurai highlighted the importance of space missions for a nation and its moral responsibility on the present generation for the future ones.
