The Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, HITS, inaugurated a week-long seminar titled “Basketball Made Easy – Play, Learn, Excel: From Classroom to Championship” on 23 October 2025. The program aims to equip students and aspiring athletes with advanced skills, modern training techniques, and a deeper understanding of the game.
Inaugural Session Highlights
The event began with a Welcome Address by Dr. J. David Mathew, Dean (Sports), who emphasized the importance of integrating scientific training methods and practical skill development in sports education.
Mr. Abhram Verghese, Sports Advisor, introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Richard Lee Brooks, a renowned Global Coach and Elite Trainer. Mr. Brooks shared insightful perspectives on modern basketball coaching, addressing the significance of discipline, technique, and continuous learning.
The seminar was formally inaugurated by Dr. S. Ganesan, Vice-Chancellor, HITS, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. In his address, he reiterated the university’s strong commitment to fostering excellence in both academics and athletics. He also appreciated the department’s initiative in bringing global expertise to benefit students and young athletes.
About the Seminar
The week-long program includes interactive sessions, demonstrations, video analyses, and hands-on practice designed to elevate participants’ knowledge and performance in basketball.

As part of the valedictory ceremony, Certificates of Completion were awarded to all 32 participants, who expressed that the seminar enriched their knowledge and enhanced their skill development.
