The Management, staff and students joined together to celebrate, Onam, the annual harvest festival of Kerala with much fervour and enthusiasm on 7 September 2019. The Chief Guest, Prof. K. V. Thomas (former Member of Parliament) emphasized the need for Keralites to keep going forward with a determined spirit in view of the repeated natural calamities. Cine Actor, Mr. Munna Simon reminded the students to enjoy the college life without hurting others. The other dignitaries Dr. M. P. Poonia (Vice Chairman, AICTE) and Dr. M. Rajaram (retd. IAS) also commended the rich traditional culture and the scenic beauty of Kerala. The students enthralled the audience with various traditional cultural programmes like Thiruvathira and other folk dances. The traditional outfits of the performers in the fashion show provided the feel of being in ‘God’s own country’ for real. The efforts of the students was also evident in the floral decoration, popularly known as “Athapoov”. The Singhari Melam troupe, specially invited for this occasion from Kerala, elevated the energy levels of the celebrations, with their synchronized drum beats and brought in a sense of nostalgia and unity in the campus community. On behalf of the management, Dr. Aby Sam, Director HITS, wished everyone a blessed and prosperous Onam. The event culminated with the sumptuous “Onam Sadhya” a pure vegetarian, traditional Kerala meal which everyone thoroughly enjoyed
