Hindustan Institution of Technology & Science has been designated as the King Sejong Institute (KSI) operating organization in India on 9 June 2021. Hindustan takes the laurel as the only institute selected in India to establish Korean Language and Culture Centre by KSI.
The announcement ceremony organized online in Seoul, South Korea was attended by Dr. Hwang Hee, Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, South Korea; Ms. Hyun-hwa Kang, President, King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF); Dr. R. W. Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellor, HITS; Ms. Sukhee Lee, Advisor International Affairs, HITS; and Dr David Easow Deputy Director-International Affairs, HITS and select dignitaries from around the world.
Announcing the newly designated King Sejong Institute (KSI), President Hyun said, “Institutions with excellent operational capabilities and conditions were selected through a six-month screening process including document review and video interview.” Speaking on the occasion, Minister Hwang thanked HITS for participating in the 2021 King Sejong Institute designation contest and hoped that the outstanding talents of HITS and many Chennai locals who are interested in the Korean language and culture will be able to fulfil their dreams through Korean language and serve as a bridgehead for the development of relations between the two countries. Minister Hwang delivered congratulations and passed on his appreciations to the officials of the Hindustan Institution of Technology & Science for being selected as the newly designated KSIF operating organization in India this year.
