10thDR. K. C. G. VERGHESE MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The School of Physical Education and Sports organized Chancellor’s Trophy 2019 – 10thDr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial International Football Tournament for foreign students from 24 to 26 September 2019 at Bay Range Campus, Padur. The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. K. P. Isaac, Vice Chancellor, HITS at Pele Football Field. 8 countries namely India, Sudan, SouthSudan, Djbouti, Tibet, Somalia, Nigeria, and Rest of the World took part in this event.India beat South Sudan by 2-0 in the final and lifted the WinnersTrophy, while Rest of the World andSomalia Shared the Third Position. Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Chancellor, HITS and Mr. C. M. Ranjith, International Footballer, and Former Indian Team Coach presided over the Valedictory Ceremony as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour and honoured the Winners.Mr. Ashok Verghese, Director, HITS; Dr. K.P. Isaac, Vice Chancellor, HITS were also seen at the function.
