The International Conference on “Physics and Chemistry of Solids” (ICPCS - 2019) was jointly was organized by the Departments of Physics and Chemistry on 7 and 8 March 2019. The conference had eminent speakers from reputed research organizations and universities. Dr. S.N. Piramanayagam, Associate Professor, Physics, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore delivered the inaugural address. Dr. P. Selvam, Professor and Head, National Centre for Catalytic Research IITM, Chennai, presented an overview of the conference. Dr. S. N. Piramanayagam, Dr. P. Selvam , Dr. R. Mahendiran, Associate Professors, National University, Singapore; Dr. Sandip Kumar Dhara, Head, Surface and Nanoscience Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam; and Dr. P. Saravanan, Scientist F, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad delivered lectures on various topics focusing the recent development, and impending challenges in the field of solids. Participants from all over country had discussions on their research findings with fellow researchers at the conference.
