Sport-X An Exclusive Badminton Tournament For Alumni

Sport – X Alumni Badminton tournament was conducted on 09th July 2022. It was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Mr. Arunachalam Manoharan, International Volleyball Player and Guests of Honour, Mr. Kamal, President of HITSAA, Mr. N. Vinod Kumar, VP, HITSAA; and Mr. Wilson Kumar, Managing Trustee, Birds and Animals Welfare Trust (BAWT).

8 AM : Registrations followed by Breakfast.

The Inauguration of Sport-X 2022 - Badminton (Men’s&Women’s) was held at 9:30am at Vaiyapuri Hall. This event was organized by HITSAA and the School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, Padur Campus. Around 150 alumni across the country participated in the event along with their families. This event was organised by Hindustan Alumni Association (HITSAA) and School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.

Dr.Pon.Ramalingam, Registrar welcomed the gathering and the Chief Guest.

Mr. Arunachalam Manoharan, International Volleyball Player, Manager, Indian Bank, was the Chief Guest for the Inauguration of Sport-X Badminton Tournament and prominent alumni were the Guests of Honour viz.Mr. B. N.Kamal, President, HITSAA, Mr. N. Vinod Kumar, VP, HITSAA, Mr. Vijendra B., Secretary, HITSAA, Mr. Tald Mathew, Treasurer, HITSAA and Mr. Wilson Kumar, Managing Trustee, Birds and Animals Welfare Trust.

After the inauguration Singles Men’s and Doubles Men’s matches were commenced.

HITSAA planned to install Bird Nests on Trees in association with Birds and Animals Welfare Trust founded by the alumnus Mr. Wilson Kumar (1994 Batch), Managing Trustee, BAWT. The event also witnessed the kickstart of the establishment of Miyawaki Forest powered by Ms. Malathi, AVP, HITSAA. Tree saplings were planted in and around Jupiter Hostel. The Badminton Tournament for the Alumni wasstreamed live on YouTube for the Alumni across the globe to watch the game.

Afternoon Session

Guests of Honour for the afternoon session were Mr. Chapa Ravikumar (’90), Central Agency, Mr. James Rajan(’89), Director, Wartsilla, Srilanka, Ms. A. M. Malathi (’90), Organic Farmer, Mr. S. S. Murthi(’97), AVP, HITSAA, Dr.Chackochan (PhS-2017) and Mr. Tald Mathew, Treasure, HITSAA.

Singles Women’s, Mixed Doubles matches were conducted in the afternoon session.

Evening Session:

Finals for all the matches of Singles Men’s, Singles women, Doubles Men’s, & Mixed Doubles were conducted at 4PM

Dr. T. Maran, Indian Badminton Coach, was the Chief Guest. Mr. Adhithya Elango, Former International Badminton Player, MD, Tejesh Sports Academy was the Guest of Honour, Other Guests were Mr. Prabhu Dhanasekar(‘2000), MD, Spring Boots Academy of Dance, Mr. Ganesh Prabhu (2012, 2014) Technical Manager, Chennaiyin FC & MD, Terrawatt, MR. Prabu P. R. (2005), MD, MoMo Sa-Khang and Mr. Abraham, Sports Advisor of HITS.

The audience was entertained by the electrifying performance of HITS cultural team. BandEXas the Music band and Team-99 as the Dance team of HITS coordinated by Mr. Santhosh, Music Coordinator and Mr. Royson, Cultural Coordinator enhanced the beauty of the event.

Valedictory Ceremony

The winners were presented with Trophies and the Certificates.

The winners list of Sport-X is as follows;

DJ Night and Camp fire was joyful session for alumni participants and families and the student volunteers. This was followed by Dinner.

Dr. B. Selvamuthukrishnan Head- PED was the Organising secretary and Ms. Pragatha, Dy. Registrar was the event coordinator of the event. At the end of the event, Vote of thanks was proposed by Event coordinator at 9:30 PM.
