A six-day summer Workshop on “Expedite Your Thesis Writing Through Modern Technology” was organized by the Department of Languages. The workshop was conducted through the Google Meet platform between 10 - 17 July 2023. The workshop commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony. Fifteen participants energetically joined this workshop from various institutions from all over the country including, Ranchi University, University of Lucknow, Lovely Professional University, University of North Bengal and many more. The resource persons of the workshop were Dr. Akkara Sherine, Head Languages and Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey, Assistant Professor and Technical Editor, Department of Languages. Dr. Thejas Gigy Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Languages, introduced the resource persons.The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Akkara Sherine, Head, Department of Languages. During her address Dr. Akkara Sherine emphasized on the need of learning and updating every day, with current technologies, available for research, to every researcher to make their research more ethical and accurate.
Session 1: Inaugural Session

In this session, Dr. Akkara Sherine discussed about the need to learn the use of emerging technologies in research. She reiterated that technology plays a crucial role in various stages of the research process, contributing to increased efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility. She taught them about the importance of effective literature review through use of technology.
Session 2: Magics of Technology in Research
Speaker: Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey
In this session, Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey discussed the availability of various magical tools available in modern technology and how they can be used in ethical research. He paid special emphasis to research in English. He taught the participants about various technical tools for identifying the research problem, framing the research topics and objectives.
Session 3: Global Literature review using ELICIT and NDLTD

Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey discussed the global Literature review using ELICIT and NDLTD database. He showed them how to collect the secondary resources practically. He also taught them the skill of making effective chapterization in the research using Bard technology. He emphasised the analytical part of the research through the application of literary theories over text. He presented the in-hand experience of Bard technology in generating multiple ideas in seconds. He also discussed about Phrase bank database for effective report writing in research.
Session 4: Citation Generator and Plagiarism Check

Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey, delved into the field of generative AI tools that can be used for wonderful citation generation. He taught the participants about the skill of generating APA and MLA citation using citation generator machine. He taught them about the use of one of the most authentic tools for plagiarism checker Turnitin. He also taught them about how an AI generated content can be checked for plagiarism using copy leaks database. He also taught them how a student can independently check his/her plagiarism in Turnitin software through student login portal.
Session 5: Editing and Proof-reading Using Technology

Dr. Akkara Sherine taught the students about the effective use of various online tools for doing editing and proof-reading. She taught them with in-hand experience about Grammarly and Trinka in editing and proof-reading. Students were quite enlightened to see the magic of these tools and presented their report after using it.
Session 6: Use of Mendeley Software in Research
Speaker: Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey, Assistant Professor and Technical Editor, Department of Languages
Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey induced the use of Mendeley software to participants and taught them about online citation generator and referencing using this tool. He delved into step by step method of using this technology starting from downloading, activation and effective use of it. The participants were highly motivated and expressed their confidence in doing their research in the faster manner after learning Mendeley.
Session 7: Building Bibliography and References using Technology

Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey, taught the students about the proper methods of using MLA and APA style sheets in parenthetical citation and making references and Bibliography. He taught them automation process involved in making effective bibliography and arranging it automatically in alphabetical manner using online technologies.
Session 8: Test

After completion of the course, Dr. Prem Shankar Pandey, prepared a test and tested all the participants to check their performance after attending the workshop. Out of the 15 participants registered for the workshop, all qualified the test, and the average score was 85%. The top position was grabbed by Ms. Merlin Arockya of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science scoring 100% marks, second position by Mr. Rajesha HK, from Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science scoring 95% and third position by Mr. Kirtikumar Ramanuj from Dr. J. N. Mehta Government Polytechnic, Amreli scoring 90% marks.
Session 9: Farewell Ceremony and Certificate Distribution
Host: Dr. Akkara Sherine.
Dr. Akkara Sherine congratulated the top performers of the test and promised them to help in their entire research journey, when required. She distributed the certificates to all the participants and took their feedback. All the participants paid their obligation to Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science for conducting such insightful workshops. The workshop was concluded with inspiring and motivational advises to all participants by Dr. Akkara Sherine.
