A two-day National Conference on “Water, Energy and Environment - WEECON’19” organized by Department of Chemical Engineering gathered around 125 participants across the country on 21 and 22 March 2019.
Dr. S. Venkata Mohan, Principal Scientist, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad and Dr. SaravananPichiah, Head, Environmental Nanotechnology Laboratory, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. While Dr. S. Venkata Mohan addressed on capitalizing the waste-energy material nexus through biorefinery based circular bioeconomy approach, Dr. SaravananPichiah addressed on the application of light driven nanomaterials from laboratory to real life. Dr. AkshayaPanigrahi, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Central Institute of Brackish Water, Chennai briefed on the Innovative and futuristic technologies for eco-based sustainable aquaculture. Mr. JeyannathannKarunanithi, India Regional Operation Manager, International Water Association (IWA), Chennai emphasized on the bottlenecks that exist for biogas production in India and the need to analyze the socio- technical barriers. Technical events like Quiz and Connections were also conducted on topics pertaining to the theme.
