The chief purpose of “Train the Trainer” programme conducted on 3 and 4 January 2019 was to train the trainer on “Integrating Computational Thinking into Curriculum using Matlab and Simulink”. Mr. Kazi Yasar Arafat, Application Engineer, Design Tech System Ltd, Pune, Maharashtra; and Mr. Rajkumar, Application Engineer, Design Tech System Ltd, Chennai were the resource persons of the workshop. Dr. N. Vasudevan, Dean-Academics, HITS in his inaugural address, emphasized the need to cultivate various problem-solving skills which can be achieved through project-based learning. He also reiterated the inevitability of the training program for designing engineering projects based on mathematical tools. Matlab is one such tool that correlates Engineering and Mathematics for implementing effective project-based learning. He also mentioned about achieving the much-required breakthrough by incorporating mathematics in engineering design. Furthermore, he expressed his view that geometrical representation of concepts is very much required for effective analysis of data. Under the guidance of Dr. M. Clement Joe Anand, Prof. Department of Mathematics and Matlab Coordinator (HITS), Dr. Janani Bharatraj, Department of Mathematics and Dr. K. Sakthidasan, Department of ECE coordinated the training wherein over 55 faculty members pan India participated.
