The dynamic leader, great visionary and alchemist of Professional Engineering in India, Dr. K.C.G Verghese, Founder-Chairman of Hindustan Group of Institutions, has always been a great source of inspiration for every youth, to achieve big in life, by following their passion. As his words above states, Dr. K.C.G Verghese firmly believed in the role of an educationalist in paving the right way for the students, inspiring them to explore their own potential. His profound qualities of enthusiasm, perseverance, vision and live networking created a springboard for many aspirants to mould their careers. On the 15th Memorial Day of Dr. K.C.G. Verghese, celebrated on 15 Feb. 2021, his Family members, the Students of HITS, and Distinguished Guests paid their tribute and homage to this pioneer of education in India.
The event hosted by Mr. Tejasv Chauhan, 4th year, B.Tech. Aeronautical Engg., and Ms. Lipika Pilli, 4th year, B.Tech. Aeronautical Engg. began with a beautiful rendition by the Choir, followed by a word of prayer and blessings by Rev. Jobi Varghese, Student Chaplain and Councellor, HITS. A Floral Tribute for the late Founder Dr. K.C.G. Verghese, was offered by the distinguished Guests, students and the members of his family, with an aspiration that the sweet fragrance and ablaze colors of these flowers keep the great Soul of the forever living leader, in peace. The Welcome Address of the ceremony was given by the prominent Educationist, Dr. R.W Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. He gave an evoking message, enlightening the gathering on the humble teachings and virtues our beloved founder Chairman, remembering the life he led, the progress he made towards his work ethics, his vision towards the future and his methods of grooming the student fraternity to become eminent assets to our Nation and the World.
“God speaks to those who take time to listen and listens to those who take time to pray”. The Holy Bible was read by Ms. JonisaAmmu Varghese, from Hindustan International School, Padur. Glimpses in the life of the honorable founder Dr KCG Varghese who was a man of Vision, success, a philosopher and an educator, was remembered through a video compilation as a tribute to His dedication and contributions for educating and molding young minds to think extensively, teaching that no horizon is too far to gaze at. The path laid forward by Dr. K.C.G Verghese has been a true inspiration to millions, providing the best facilities through his institutions, to identify and promote the great potential “To Make Every Man a Success and No Man a Failure”.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Prateep V Philip, IPS, the Director General of Police, CBCID, Tamil Nadu, addressed the gathering with his humble and eminent words. He portrayed the late Founder as a leader, who undertook every challenge of accomplishment, without any hesitation, and his true determination, knowledge and hard work has made us who we are today. He also fondly mentioned an incident in the life of late Dr. K.C.G. Verghese, where he had approached the former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, with the proposal of his Airline, Air Asiatic. While most were skeptical about his success, Rajiv Gandhi asked him to confidently go ahead with his idea. This fire that kindled in him marked history and his Air Asiatic was the first in India to get a private air taxi operator license in 1989. It operated with a Boeing 737. It was the forerunner of the spate of private airlines that came up subsequently. Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Chancellor of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science and Chairperson of Hindustan Group of Institutions, handed over the memento of gratitude to the respected Chief Guest.
Mr. Nayan Kumar Mishra, The Chief Instructor, HIET, inspired the audience with insightful excerpts from the autobiography of Dr. K.C.G. Verghese, “The Wheels and wings”: "It is for every one of us to think about where this country is headed and see what we can do individually and collectively to help India Incorporated come out of the red. We are a billion-strong nation of talented and diligent people. We don't really need to leave our home ground in search of greener pastures”. These are the testimonies of his deep-rooted desire to fulfill his aspirations. He was a true patriot and he always advised the youngsters to serve their own country. He also emphasized on the vision of the Founder Chairman, “To Make Every Man a Success and No Man a Failure”.
Dr. P Devisundari, Principal, KCG college, paid her tribute to the beloved Founder and delightedly remembered an inspiring trail lessons she imbibed from his life. Mrs. Bharathi Laxmi, Principal, Hindustan International School, Karapakkam, proposed the Vote of Thanks to all the Distinguished Guests, Chancellor, Directors, Pro-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Students, Faculties and all the Viewers. The blessed event concluded in immense glory with a word of prayer and benediction by Rev. Jobi Varghese, Student Chaplain and Councellor, HITS. Students and faculty also paid homage earlier at the late Dr. K.C.G. Verghese’s tombstone, with due respect and honor on 13th February 2021. They decorated the tombstone with flowers and offered a bouquet of fragrant flowers of dedication and a Song of Tribute to the late Founder.
The American Poet, Robert Frost quoted, “Two roads diverged in a wood, And I took the one less travelled. And that has made all the difference.”. The progressive and successful life journey of the late Founder Chairman, Dr. K.C.G. Verghese is a living example laid forth before the world, as a contemplation of this quote. Even on his 15th Memorial, his inspiring vision and success continues to live forever and will be the guiding light for generations to come. The best tribute we can ever offer this architect of the Hindustan Group of Institutions could be to emulate his ideals and work toward realizing his dreams.
