Iiid Design Confluence & Showcase

The event was organised at the Chennai Trade Centre. Hon’ble Thiru R.N. Ravi Governor of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the annual confluence on 02 September 2022. The two-day conference Design Confluence was organised on2 and 3 September 2022 and the three-day exhibition Showcase was organised as a concurrent event on 2 and 4 September 2022 in the same hall. The Confluence witnessed master lecture, solo presentations, interactions, panel discussions with the national fraternity of designers. The Showcase had displays of student works of universities that offer Interior design.

School of Planning, Architecture and Design Excellence, HITS sponsored a workshop on Kokedama by Ar.Kalpana Yuvaraaj on 2 September 2022. Dr.Sheeba Chander, Dean, SPADE, HITS and member of IDCS Chennai Development Committee welcomed the guest speaker and spoke to the participants about Kokedama which is a living piece of art. Students of SPADE, HITS and other colleges actively participated in the DIY workshop.

The second year and third year students of B.Des Interior Design participated in all the events and workshops along with the students of B.Arch. They were engaged in various workshops and talk series on all three days. The works of students were displayed at the student’s workshop area.The second-yearB.Des Interior design students won hands on workshop on Sterotomies of Solid Geometry and were appreciated by the jury members and the guest speaker. Volunteers from SPADE were present on all three days of the event to support the IIID team.

Students and faculty members had the opportunity to interact with famous speakers like Mr.Sabu Cyril, Ar.Jabeen Zacharias, Ar.Neelam Manjunath and many more.They had a great learning experience on all three days. Also, they were introduced to many modern materials and techniques. Workshops and talks rejuvenated their minds. The workshop curriculum helped togain hands-on experiences which would help to learn design evolution and form in the upcoming semesters.
