The Department Fashion Design and Arts conducted a workshop titled Designing for Digital Printing on 21 October 2022. The event was attended by 21 students of II year B.Des. (Fashion and Apparel Design). The objective of the workshop was to convert art and hand drawing and sketches into digital art for prints on textiles.
The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Kaviya Sivakumar, Textile Art Head, Shireen Shahana Boutique, Chennai. Ms Kaviya alumnus of the FDA Department 2019 pass-out batch first shared her hand artworks created using water colour. She then explained the step-by-step process of how a fabric print is first sketched and then slowly offset to become a seamless print. Both manual and digital offsetting methods were explained and every student created one of the designs during the workshop. The students found the workshop very engaging and useful.
