MHRD ranks HITS as Category 2 University with Graded Autonomy Status.
The University Grants Commission is a statutory organization established by an Act of Parliament in 1956 for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education. The UGC has accorded Category II Graded Autonomy status to Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. It is a proud moment for HITS to identify itself as one among the 66 Universities out of 826 in India to obtain the Graded Autonomy status from UGC/MHRD. This has indeed been a great stride in the history of the institution and has encouraged the entire HITS fraternity to strive towards greater targets.
