The 34 th Annual Conference of Association of Universities of Asia Pacific was organized between 10 and 14 Nov. 2019 at Naresuan University, Thailand. A delegation led by Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Pro Chancellor, HITS comprising Dr. G. Ilavazhagan, Director, International Affairs and Mr. Salim Mahmood, Deputy Director, Admissions, HITS attended the conference. In the Executive Board Meeting held on 10 Nov. 2019, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese and Dr. G. Ilavazhagan made a bid to organize the upcoming 2020 AUAP Robotics Competition in HITS,Chennai. The Board agreed to the proposal and decided to organize 2020 AUAP Robotics Competition at HITS.
The theme of the 34 th AUAP Conference was “Climate Change Adaptation – The Challenging Role of Higher Education Institutions.” Dr. Ilavazhagan made a presentation on “Science & Technology for Cleaner & Greener Environment- Contributions of HITS” wherein he briefed the pollution levels in India, the efforts taken by the Government in the area of Clean Energy, and research contributions of HITS towards generation of clean energy, reduction in pollutants and conversion of waste into wealth. The presentation also specifically included “A Novel ZnO based Nano Catalyst for Enhanced Photo-mineralization of Rhodamine 6G Dye.” Dr. G. Ilavazhagan also visited Professor Sukruedee and her colleagues at S.G. Tech. Centre for Renewable Energy; Dr. Kanchana Ngorungsi, President, Naresuan University; Mr.Chanchai Charanvatnakit, Advisor; Ms. Jasima Juwasophi, Director International Affairs; and Ms. Wirada Ukarapattayakul, International Coordinator of King Monggutt University, Bangkok; and delegates from Siam University.
