Dr. Annie Kuriachan, Associate Professor, English, Women’s Christian College (WCC) delivered an exclusive Guest Lectureon “Dynamics and effective Ways of Drafting a Research Paper.” The programmeorganized by the Department of Languages on 16 March 2020 intended to target research scholars and ignite the spirit of research enquiry in them.Dr. Annie Kuriachan spoke on the importance of research writing, its dynamics and the procedure to write each Chapter in a thesis on power with western standards. She drew a difference between a thesis and hypothesis with examples; and briefly highlighted how to writeIntroduction,Thesis Statement, Research Gap, Research Questions, Methodology, Study Findings and Future Directions as well. She also emphasized on how to write an effective Abstract using 5 principles:Problem Location, Thesis Statement, Approaches & Methodology, and Findings& Future Direction. Dr. Annie emphasized on developing reading skills and also immerse in reading ofResearch Articles for at least 2 years before the commencing research.
Dr. Annie Kuriachan has also held the post as Dean, Research in WCC for 4 years. She is a theatre expert and has designed the Syllabi for courses in English for Communication Skills and Theatre: Theory & Practice. She is a UBCHEA Fellow (United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia) and has attended Leadership Training Seminars in Thailand and Manila, Philippines.
