SOUTH ZONE INTER UNIVERSITY BASKETBALLMEN’S TOURNAMENT
HITS hosted the South Zone Inter University Basketball Men’s Tournament between 7 and 11 December 2019 inviting a total of 81 teams to play on Knock out cum League basis. A 35-member qualified officials including national & international referees were deputed from Tamil Nadu Basketball Association for successful conduct of the 5-day tournament.
RESULTS
Winners : University Of Madras, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Runners : Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala.
Third Place : Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Fourth Place : Jain University, Bangalore, Karnataka.
Mr. Aadhav Arjuna, General Secretary,Tamil Nadu Basketball Association, Chennai presided over the inaugural function as the Chief Guest whileMs. Aashritha Devi Talluri, Managing DirectorSangam Cinemas;Mr. Sendhil Thyagarajan, Senior Vice PresidentTamil Nadu Basketball Association, Chennai;Dr. J. P. Sukumar, Former Registrar,TNPESU, Chennai were the Guests of Honour.Dr. Dhanasekaran, Chairman, IET, Chennai, Network & Principal, Saveetha School of Engineering, Chennai; and Mr. Robert Bornshin CEO, MAJO, Singapore were the Special Guests for the function.Mr. N. Sridhar, Former State Basketball Player & Coach; Mr. Pavan Kachibhatla, Former Director, IMG South Asia &Former State Basketball Player; Mr. L. Suren, Director IGP Group, &Former International Basketball Player were invited as guests for each day of the tournament. At the valedictory function hosted on 11 December, Mr. V.V.R.RajSatyan, President,Tamil Nadu Basketball Association Chennai presided was Chief Guest. Mr.A.Raj Kumar,Former International Basketball Player; Mr. S.S.Nissar, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Basketball Association; and Mr.Jeevanandam, International Player were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Ashok G. Verghese, Director, Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science presided over the function and distributed prizes for the victorious teams.
