Strengthening Academia–Defence Synergy
Hindustan Group of Institutions proudly commemorates the successful signing of the MoU with the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), a premier laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on 17th Feb 2026.
The MoU ceremony was graciously presided over by our esteemed Vice President Dr. Ashok G. Verghese and Dr. Madhusudhan Pal, Eminent Scientist ‘G’ and Associate Director, Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, New Delhi.
We sincerely express our gratitude to Chairman Dr.Anand Jacob Verghese for his valued consent and support in enabling this meaningful collaboration.
We also place in record our heartfelt thanks to Devkanta Pahad Singh, Director, DIPAS for kindly granting consent to sign the MoU with Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS).
The ceremony was marked by insightful deliberations and a shared vision for nation-building through research and innovation.
The Director – Research enlightened the gathering about the robust research ecosystem at HITS — highlighting funded projects, interdisciplinary research clusters, advanced laboratories, industry collaborations, incubation support, and strong linkages with national research organizations.
The emphasis was clear: HITS is building a research-driven academic culture aligned with national priorities
Dr. Madhusudhan Pal, Associate Director of Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) in his address expressed his appreciation for the progressive initiatives of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) in contributing to the Defence sector and welcomed the signing of the MoU as a significant step toward meaningful collaboration. He emphasized the importance of indigenously designing and developing a pilot training model through an in-house flight simulator, highlighting it as a strategic initiative aligned with national priorities. He further noted that the areas of expertise available at HITS strongly match the research and development requirements of DIPAS, creating greater scope for synergy, technical alignment, and impactful outcomes in defence-oriented research and innovation
“Improving the Performance of the Man Behind the Machine” Dr. Niroj, Scientist G & Head HRD, DIPAS, eloquently demonstrated the institute’s core research focus on enhancing human performance in extreme environmental conditions. He highlighted collaborative project avenues and elaborated on structured internship opportunities for students, emphasizing hands-on exposure to defence-oriented research.
Dr. Asokan, Dean – Aerospace, reflected on the rich legacy of HITS and its long-standing association with DRDO. Over the years, nearly 20–30 funded research projects have been sanctioned, and three dedicated laboratories have been established in collaboration with DRDO — a testament to the strong academic–defence partnership.
Dr. Ashok George Verghese, Vice President HGI emphasized the pivotal role of academicians in contributing to the well-being and operational excellence of our soldiers. He expressed his immense happiness and pride in strengthening this association with HITS, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to national service.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Vikas Misra reiterated that this MoU is not merely a formal agreement but the beginning of a purposeful collaboration aligned with national priorities.
As Hindustan Group of Institutions celebrates 60 years of excellence and HITS marks 40 years of academic distinction, the year 2026 begins with impactful national collaborations, including the recent Umbrella MoU with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, and now with DIPAS.
