International Workshop on “Space Odyssey – V | Date: 2-3 July 2025
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering and the Department of Aerospace Engineering organized an International Workshop on “SPACE ODYSSEY - V” on 2-3 July. The Chief Guest was Dr. Ravi Margasahayam, NASA Space Goodwill Ambassador, and the Guests of Honour were Dr. P. V. Venkitakrishnan, Professor, Satish Dhawan Chair Scientist and Former Director, ISRO, and Dr. Harshini Hariran, MD Aerospace Medicine (Flight Surgeon), IAF.
Dr. Ravi Margasahayam in his address on day 1 presented the various space missions of NASA that took humans to Space. Through his demonstrations on the success and failures of NASA, Dr. Ravi motivated the students to learn from their failures. Following this, Dr. P. V Venkitakrishnan, presented a detailed insight on the future missions of ISRO and the lifestyle of Dr Abdul Kalam, the Former President of India. The third speech was delivered by Dr. Harishini Hariharan who elaborated on the various advancements in the field of Space Medicine and the effects of microgravity for the humans and its associated abnormalities.
On the second day of the workshop, Dr. Ravi Margasahayam lectured on the various techniques involved in launching and assembling the billion-dollar project International Space Station. He also highlighted the numerous research facilities and systems available at the (ISS). The second resource person for the day was Mr. Ragupathy, Scientist’ F, CEMILAC, DRDO. His lecture focussed on the aeroelastic and fatigue cycle of Jet Engines. The third speaker Dr. Sudheer Kumar N, Former Director, CBPO, ISRO, HQ, explained the different projects carried out at ISRO in association with INSPACE. Dr. Sudheer also encouraged the students to explore the possibilities of getting support from INSPACE as entrepreneurs.
