The Hindustan Cyclothon 2021 organized by Hindustan Alumni Association (HITSAA) and School of Physical Education and Sports Science drew as many as over hundred participants from 5.15 AM onwards for registration on 2 October 2021. Mr. J. Manimaran, (Ph. D.), Inspector of Police, Kelambakkam Police Station presided over the event as the Chief Guest. Mr. J. Manimaran, a national level Kabbadi and Volleyball player,has formerly been the Director of Physical Education Department of St. Joseph College, Trichy. He has been recently conferred with ‘CM Medal’ towards his commendable service.
Mr. J. Manimaran expressed his joy in meeting a large mixed audience of students, faculty and alumni of HITS and encouraged everyone to partake in sports and extracurricular activities to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. KamalB. N., President HITSAA, emphasized that large participation of alumni with students and faculty in events as this builds a strong bond with alma mater. Mr. Vinod N., VP, HITSAA; Ms. Malathi, AVP, HITSAA; Mr. Tald Mathew, Treasurer, HITSAA; Dr. B. Selvamuthukrishnan, Head, School of Physical Education and Sports Science; and Head-Student Affairs were seen at the event.
Mr. Spartacus, Zumba Trainerfrom Spring Boots Academy, taught vital warm up and warm down exercises for the cyclists to strengthen and loosen up their muscle. Participants received their T-Shirts (Blue, White and Yellow) sponsored by class of 1992 Alumni based on the distance they opted to cycle. After the completion of the 10 Km., 15 Km. & 20 Km. cycling, Medals and Certificates were presented to all the participants. The memorable event, well-coordinated by Ms. V.S. Pragatha, Dy. Registrar &Coordinator HITSAA; and Dr. B. Selvamuthukrishnan, Head, School of Physical Education and Sports Science,concluded with Group Photographs taken with the dignitaries followed by breakfast.
