ASME Student Section - Inauguration

The ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Student Section serves as a professional and technical platform for mechanical engineering and other related programme like Aerospace, Mechatronics and Automobile Engineering students to enhance their academic knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies. The section operates under the guidance of ASME International and aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world engineering applications.The ASME Student Section established in the institutions organize a variety of technical, professional, and social activities throughout the academic year. One of the primary objectives of the section is to promote innovation, leadership, teamwork, and ethical engineering practices among the engineering students.

INAUGURATION OF ASME STUDENT SECTION AT HITS

The inauguration of the ASME Student Section at HITS was held on 29^th January 2026. The inaugural event was held at the Andromeda Hall, Jubilee block. The function was graced by Mr.HariBalachandran, Deputy Director, L&D Business Development & Operations, ASME India Private Limited, Dr. K. ShanmugaSundaram, Director, Centre for University Industry Collaboration, Professor, Engineering Design Division, Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, ASME Member Lead of Tamil Nadu Chapter, Mr. Ganesh S, Head of Learning Experience, ASME India, New Delhi and Ms.Sharmishatha, Sr. Coordinator – Memberships, ASME Foundation India, New Delhi.Dr. M. Muralikrishna, Director - IQAC & Dean E&T, Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean – Academics, Dr.Ahilan, Associate Dean (MAM) & Head – Automobile Engineering, Dr. P. Vasanthakumar, Head- Aerospace Engineering, Dr.Vijayabalan, Head – Mechanical Engineering, Dr.Devika, Head – Mechatronics Engineering also participated.

Dr. M. Muralikrishna, Director – IQAC & Dean (E&T) gave the welcome address for the inaugural function of ASME Student Section.Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean – Academics gave the keynote speech in this inaugural event.

Ms.AnanthaBohara, Chair of ASME Student Section gave the vote of thanks during this function and thanked everyone for the wholehearted support for the successful inauguration of the Student Section at HITS.

Overall, the ASME Student Section plays a vital role in nurturing technically competent, socially responsible, and industry-ready mechanical engineers by fostering continuous learning and professional excel.
