The department of Automobile Engineering invited Prof. Dr. Peter Koenig, Dean, Automotive Engineering, Trier University of Applied Sciences, Germany and Mr. M. P. Prasad, President, Agnito Insights, Chennai to address an International Seminar on “Next Generation Mobility” on 22 August 2019. Prof. Dr. Ing Karl Hofman-von-kap-herr and students from Trier University and over 450 students of HITS from Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Civil Engineering partook in the seminar. Prof. Dr. Peter Koenig reflected on his work culture and organization; and gave a practical approach where one needs to visualize various nodes before thinking about next generation mobility. Also did Prof. Koenig discuss on human mobility, efficient mobility, seating position, safety systems, and belt routing; and summarized the needs to develop new modes, investigate human body, make proper use of dummies in crash test. Mr. M. P. Prasad’s address on “Electrifying mobility” covered topics on electric vehicles, human needs on electrical vehicular structure, and also the effective ways present for the introduction of technology based vehicles in India. Participants had a great level of discussion in the interrogative session as well.
